Research of UK magazine industry

The music industry's magazine section is declining rapidly due to people not buying paper magazines. This is because they are either too expensive or people just don't have the time nor effort to go to the shop to buy it.

For example NME fell 14.3% to 29,020 in the first half of 2011. And also other big magazines like Kerrang fell 2.2% over a year and ones like Mojo and also Q went down considerably.

The golden years of the music magazine industry were between the 1960-2000. This is because advertising was strong, circulation levels were high which meant that many magazine companies were very profitable.

In 2006 the internet took storm and people started looking at magazines online because it was a lot quicker and a lot less hassle then having to go to the shop and get it. Also due to facebook and google expanding, it meant that advertising was in high competition.

In 2007 magazines were available on the iphone which meant people could look at them on the move and in 2010 the ipad would be able to view magazines. But due to the financial crash, circulation dropped of paper magazines and people tend to look at things on the move online.
